Silk Flowers are getting some Backbone

Friday 3rd July 2020 by Natasha Searls-Punter Leave a Comment

‘More drama!’ they cry ‘More detail’

It’s been a little while since we released a new flower design so we thought it was about time. As we are always looking to up our game, I think you will agree that this one takes it up a step again. Introducing the Structural Flowers Orchid Design Online Class.

We’ve started with the Orchid design to bring a little glamour and a touch of the exotic to our collection of silk flowers. This style of silk flower making is wonderful for making flowers with very striking and unusual shaped petals as the petals are wired, allowing you to mould and shape them to the sculpture they deserve to be!

And as they are structured, they are able to support a much greater amount of detail than our softer, more tactile silk flower styles. So whether you want to embroider onto the fabric like our examples, or add sequins and hot fix crystals, or even silk paint your fabric these flowers will take it on.

During the online class we will walk you through the making of the purple example shown; including prepping the fabric, embroidering the details, cutting the shapes, inserting the wires, constructing and shaping your piece.

There are Mini or Deluxe kits available to go with this online class to get you started depending on our requirements.

New Organdie Rose Colours

Friday 19th June 2020 by Natasha Searls-Punter Leave a Comment

Seeing as you all seemed to enjoy our organdie roses class and kits so much, we have been very much looking forward to sharing with you the news that are expanding our colour range. In addition to the lovely sunshine yellow we started with, we will now be stocking mini kits in 4 other colours, Rosewood Pink, Terracotta orange, Seafoam Green and Lavender Lilac.

As you can see these colours are great to mix together or match to you own colour scheme. The sculptural nature of the organdie roses means that you can manipulate them to be as big and open, or newly blooming a flower as you wish. Where do you plan on using your organdie roses, I’ve got mine earmarked for millinery, table settings, bouquets, hair accessories, corsages….

April’s Student of the Month

Thursday 30th April 2020 by Natasha Searls-Punter Leave a Comment

Like the rest of the world, we have had some big changes over the last few months, having postponed all of our studio classes, we have been trying to bring our classes to you at home online. Therefore this month’s student of the month is someone who has been engaging a lot with the online classes, making lots of beautiful things and refining her skills @a.sodha !

Starting with the Valentino Roses Class, but also having made lots of chiffon roses, the combination of the two designs is stunning.

@a.sodha has also been joining us on the live stitch alongs on instagram, so it has been lovely to get to know her a little from chatting there. Having our community get involved with us like this makes it all worth it so we are delighted that you seem to be responding to our adaptations well and long may it continue. 😉

If you would like to be the May’s #studentofthemonth, use the hashtag #londonembroideryschool or tag us when sharing your photos from your London Embroidery School class or the things you have gone onto make following one of our class.
