Goldwork Letters Style 3: Cutwork with padding and Pearle Purl edging is here. The final step in our goldwork for lettering series aimed at those who have done some goldwork before and are ready to apply those skills more specifically. Taught by breaking the letters down into their characteristics, we discuss the intricacies of the elements you will face and how to deal with each of them as well as showing how to bring all those elements together into one considered, cohesive outcome.

There are no kits for this class as we encourage you to make your own creative material choices for a truly personalised outcome. Do check out the materials listed on the class for our guide to what you’ll need. Head over to the London Embroidery school website for all the details and access to our most technically advanced goldwork class to date.

Christmas UK Postage Deadline Fast Approaches

All our embroidery online class kits, whether Chrismas gift wrapped or not, come presented beautifully in a recyclable box so that you get a fun unboxing experience when you receive your parcel. In this year when we might not be able to see one another as we usually would, sending someone the gift of a skill or something you have made with your new skills has an enhanced meaning.

As the final postage date before Christmas creeps ever closer (15th Dec for UK) , get your order into us to avoid disappointment as we can’t wait to see what you will go on to stitch.

We will continue to be working and post items out until the 20th Dec, but cant say for sure they will arrived before Christmas. After that all new orders will be despatched by the 6th Jan 2021.

Free Lace Jewellery Flowers Design Online Class

Friday 23rd October 2020 by Natasha Searls-Punter Leave a Comment

This class launch, Lace Jewellery Flowers Design, follows the success of the first of the first we released in this style, the leaves design. This too is aimed at our novice embroiderers where together we will be working to make a pair of embellished lace earrings. Using basic techniques we will guide you towards good practises as we add the beads and sequins to the lace, whilst considering the piece as a whole for a 3D outcome. If you are fairly new to embroidery then this one is great for you as we share some of our tips that will help you on your way. Oh and did we mention, the class itself is free so you can enjoy the techniques taught and apply them to your own projects if you like.

This approach is more of a challenge on how to be delicate and tension your work as it is a bit fiddly. The finished pieces make a lovely thing to gift to someone special as the outcomes are so pretty and will post well if you aren’t able to see one another particularly at the moment .

The flowers design kit will be the first design in this style, though there are more kits to come which you can apply the same techniques to, or freestyle it to really make them your own. Kits are available to purchase on our website so head there now to grab your class and choice of kit today.

Bring on the Beads!

Friday 18th September 2020 by Natasha Searls-Punter Leave a Comment

We’ve built the base, it’s time to bring the beads. Part 2 of the Tambour Online class series is now available. Working with the most popular use of the tambour skills, adding beading into the equation ups the difficulty level as we navigate the additional weight, changeable stitch length, shrinkage and working that underneath hand. Starting off with a pack of practise beads we will work on the techniques before we apply the skills to our landscape design, incorporating round beads, seed beads and bugle beads, straights, corners, curves and fills.

If you haven’t got any idea what those things mean, start off the tambour 1 to fill in the gaps and catch us up. Those who got in fast and purchased the whole series as a bundle will have the class waiting for you in your inbox. Kits are going quickly so if you haven’t managed to bag one or have plenty of beads of your own, you can purchase the online class on its own. This comes with a downloadable version of the design template to use your own materials with and start stitching at home right away.

Check out all the options so you can just buy what you need. All the variations are explained on our website, follow any of the links for more info. Begin couture beading like a pro with the Tambour Online Class Series from the London Embroidery School.

August’s Student of the Month

Wednesday 2nd September 2020 by Natasha Searls-Punter Leave a Comment

Feels like Summer might be coming to an end, but what we do know has gone is August and so it is time to announce that July’s Student of the Month is….. @laurasanders_costumes !

Introduction to Embroidery Online Class by @laurasanders_costumes

Arming ourselves with new skills is a passion we all seem to share and Laura Sanders is no different. This busy University of the Arts Bournemouth graduate is always making something new and has now extended her skills into hand embroidery.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Costume- @laurasanders_costumes

We feel sure that these embroidery skills will come in very handy with her costume and dressing works for the likes of ‘Miss Saigon’ and ‘Strictly Ballroom’ in London’s Piccadilly Theatre.

Trying out smocking techniques – @laurasanders_costumes

Look out for this name… I’m sure we will be seeing more of Laura and her skills.

If you would like to be the September’s #studentofthemonth, use the hashtag #londonembroideryschool or tag us when sharing your photos from your London Embroidery School class or the things you have gone onto make following one of our class.
