January’s Student of the Month

Wednesday 3rd February 2021 by Natasha Searls-Punter Leave a Comment

goldwork, gold work, product outcome, gold wire, embroidery, appliqué, padding, chipping, final outcome, couching, online class, pear class,

January is over- phew! And so we have a new student of the month to announce…. @hanlroberts

Hannah purchased our Goldwork Online Class and kit and has been working away on her pear in great detail.

I’m sure you will agree she has made a fantastic job of it and even though she says that the cutwork was tough, we think she should be very pleased with it.

Hannah is quite an accomplished stitcher from her instagram page, you can see she has turned her hand to lots of wonderful stitching kits, all of which could be adverts themselves !

Christmas UK Postage Deadline Fast Approaches

Friday 11th December 2020 by Natasha Searls-Punter Leave a Comment

postage, orders, Christmas orders, deliveries, embroidery school, embroidery, kits, online classes

All our embroidery online class kits, whether Chrismas gift wrapped or not, come presented beautifully in a recyclable box so that you get a fun unboxing experience when you receive your parcel. In this year when we might not be able to see one another as we usually would, sending someone the gift of a skill or something you have made with your new skills has an enhanced meaning.

As the final postage date before Christmas creeps ever closer (15th Dec for UK) , get your order into us to avoid disappointment as we can’t wait to see what you will go on to stitch.

We will continue to be working and post items out until the 20th Dec, but cant say for sure they will arrived before Christmas. After that all new orders will be despatched by the 6th Jan 2021.

September’s Student of the Month

Tuesday 6th October 2020 by Natasha Searls-Punter Leave a Comment

It would seem like for those in the UK, autumn is well and truly here. Behind us are the days of wanting to spend all our time outside (Covid permitting). Bring on those snuggly months with a blanket, hot chocolate and the desire to stay inside and perhaps, I don’t know, maybe do some stitching. Like this month’s student of the month who has definitely been getting their stitching hours in recently @diannasmith646

Tambour Online Class 2: Beads by @diannasmith646

Here is someone who with a swift glance at their Instagram page, clearly loves textiles and making and craft in it’s forms. Dianna took out Tambour Online Class Series and wasted no time in getting started and dedicating her skills to this technique.

Tambour Online Class 1: Stitches by @diannasmith646

As you can see above, here winning picture is of her tambour 2 outcome, the beads class of the tambour series where she shows a real finesse for this style of embroidery. The other parts of the class are also very good, but that one just had the edge for us. It would seem that Dianna sensed that in herself too as she has already started and made serious headway on testing a new project with her tambour skills.

Bringing a great sense of humour to her craft projects, check her Instagram out if you need a little motivation as you will find it in spades. Dianna seems to be able to jump between different techniques very easily and goes to show how varied and exciting making things with your own hands can be.

Bring on the Beads!

Friday 18th September 2020 by Natasha Searls-Punter Leave a Comment

We’ve built the base, it’s time to bring the beads. Part 2 of the Tambour Online class series is now available. Working with the most popular use of the tambour skills, adding beading into the equation ups the difficulty level as we navigate the additional weight, changeable stitch length, shrinkage and working that underneath hand. Starting off with a pack of practise beads we will work on the techniques before we apply the skills to our landscape design, incorporating round beads, seed beads and bugle beads, straights, corners, curves and fills.

If you haven’t got any idea what those things mean, start off the tambour 1 to fill in the gaps and catch us up. Those who got in fast and purchased the whole series as a bundle will have the class waiting for you in your inbox. Kits are going quickly so if you haven’t managed to bag one or have plenty of beads of your own, you can purchase the online class on its own. This comes with a downloadable version of the design template to use your own materials with and start stitching at home right away.

Check out all the options so you can just buy what you need. All the variations are explained on our website, follow any of the links for more info. Begin couture beading like a pro with the Tambour Online Class Series from the London Embroidery School.

Part 2 Broderie Anglaise Is Out!

Friday 14th August 2020 by Natasha Searls-Punter Leave a Comment

Part 2 of the Broiderie Anglaise Online class series is now out. Moving on from the circular shapes of the first class, we will be trying our hand at the other cut work shapes in our traditional whitework design and creating contrast to our piece. After focusing on taking away fabric to create the design, we will offset this by adding satin, raised satin and outline stitch elements for some extra texture.

If you purchased a bundle for this course then part 2 will be waiting for you in your inbox. If not, or if you are new to the course, flow the link for the second and final part of this series.

Could this be your new mending method when you get a hole or tear in your favourite garment? Does that piece really need mending in the traditional sense, or could you make a feature of its flaw? In today’s ever increasingly aware culture of conspicuous consumption and slow fashion movements, the techniques included in Broiderie Anglaise online class series can be put to great use with a little creativity. It is a beautiful art in its own right, but it’s safe to say, the skills used to create it have some transferable and handy applications.

With skills like these, holes and eyelets have never looked so good, when you know what to do with them.
