January’s Student of the Month

January is over- phew! And so we have a new student of the month to announce…. @hanlroberts

Hannah purchased our Goldwork Online Class and kit and has been working away on her pear in great detail.

I’m sure you will agree she has made a fantastic job of it and even though she says that the cutwork was tough, we think she should be very pleased with it.

Hannah is quite an accomplished stitcher from her instagram page, you can see she has turned her hand to lots of wonderful stitching kits, all of which could be adverts themselves !

Plunging, Pearle Purl and (string) Pad additions to the Pear

Friday 24th July 2020 by Natasha Searls-Punter Leave a Comment

goldwork, gold work, product outcome, gold wire, embroidery, appliqué, padding, chipping, final outcome, couching, online class, pear class, Mellor, Hand

We are getting into the more tricky techniques of the goldwork pear design now, starting off this class with plunging, the rather dramatic sounding way to finish off our couching from the last class.

Furthering our finishing touches, we then will be adding the very pleasing looking pearle purl edging before we explore a new padding method with string. This will bring us to step up the difficulty towards the end of the class as we take our first foray into the challenging technique of cutwork.

Get your copy of this next class on our website or if you are new to the goldwork pear design, get started by choosing one of our bundle options to grab yourself a discount on this design. There are now three of the four class parts available with the final one coming next Friday, so plenty of stitching to keep you busy till then! Check back on the 31st July for the final instalment, or have it sent direct to you on it’s release when you buy a bundle option.

Hattie McGill Designer in Focus

Friday 6th April 2018 by claire

Goldwork, lobster, Gold work, embroidery, sewing, cutwork, wire, gold, gold wire

Are you familiar with the movie Murder on the Orient Express? Did you marvel at the astounding visuals? We know, we did! We loved the set, the alluring cinematic feel, and most importantly the characters who were dressed impeccably.

We are proud to be have Hattie McGill, who was involved in making some of the garments worn in the movie, willbe teaching classes from June to August 2018.

Hattie, who trained at The Royal School of Needlework, has a deep love for embroidery. Beginning at the age of 3, on a project for her mother to celebrate Mother’s Day. Since then, she has been hooked, engaging in this passion of hand embroidery, and has come far. Hattie has worked on several international embroidery projects such as marvel movie Dr Strange, Game of Thrones and with fashion house Alexander McQueen.

Aside from making superhero costumes, she’s a lover of nature. Creating beautiful crustaceans stitch by stitch and then throwing parties with them. Meet Jean Shrimpton, who latched on Hattie’s collar.

Learn to make your own lobster at London Embroidery School with Hattie herself this summer!

Come join us and engage in both conversation with Hattie and learn how to make one of her fantastic Goldwork lobsters, so that we can throw a disco party.
