The London Embroidery School are now running a new course – Beginners Silk Shading – for all you budding embroiderers out there! This course has been on the pipeline for a long time and we are happy to say its now ready!
The Silk Shading Course teaches the delicate art of silk shading from our RSN trained tutor. This technique, sometimes known as ‘painting in stitches’ allows you to create fades and colour changes through the body of the embroidery by working with multiple threads. This is particularly useful for natural forms such as flowers, fruit and animals which, once mastered, can give a very realistic effect to the embroidery.
The course is taught over 6 hours on a weekend and will provide a comprehensive introduction of the techniques used so that you can manipulate your skills to suit your own future projects. You will also learn how to form long and short stitch for tapestry shading and how to apply your design onto your ground.
The next course date is on Saturday 2nd September – 10am – 4:30pm which gives you plenty of time to book, but please book at least 1 week in advance to secure your spot. Your purchase is also made with a table clamp frame and variation of needles which you can then take home after the class to practice!
